The Public Servants Association has slated the National Prosecuting Authority's plans to appeal against a Labour Appeal Court ruling on job upgrading.
Johannesburg - Employers and businesses, wherever possible, should give staff and workers time off on Friday "to recognise and participate in" the opening ceremony of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, Business Unity SA (Busa) said on Tuesday.
The opening of the World Cup represented "a historic day for South Africa which should be enjoyed by as many stakeholders as possible", Busa said in a statement.
On Monday, trade federation Cosatu also appealed to bosses to allow workers to leave at lunchtime on Friday.
"This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and workers should be allowed to be with their families to watch the opening game," Cosatu said.
