Johannesburg -
Mamodupi Mohlala, director general (DG) of the department of communications, who received her marching orders in a controversial manner on Friday, plans to submit court papers contesting her dismissal by the end of Tuesday.
The documents are also expected to contain details of the alleged conflict between herself and Communications Minister
Siphiwe Nyanda over tenders. She is consulting her legal advisers.
When questioned on Monday about reports of tender irregularities, she said there had been correspondence between herself and the department related to purchases.
She believed there had been an element of transgression of the Public Financial Management Act and the relevant details would be contained in the court documents.
In a statement on Friday the department admitted that it was experiencing challenges in terms of its internal processes. Nyanda and
Dina Pule, the Deputy Minister of Communications, had had a meeting with Mohlala to resolve the issues.
According to the statement it had become evident that there had been an irreconcilable breakdown of trust between the minister and the DG, which was the reason that Mohlala had immediately been dismissed from her post.
On Monday Mohlala said she did not believe there had been a breakdown in the relationship.
No reasons had been given to her to support this contention.
She has been dismissed without any suspension, disciplinary hearing or reason given, she said.
Previously it had been reported that Nyanda had apparently wanted to get rid of Mohlala because of conflict over tenders she did not want to sign.
Nyanda had seemed to want to remove the administration of tenders from her duties.
Mohlala had apparently been offered a severance package of R1.6m, which she had rejected.
