income for the accommodation industry in March 2010 increased
by 1.6% compared with March 2009, Statistics SA said
on Monday.
Income from accommodation in March 2010 increased by 2.1% compared
with March 2009, the Pretoria-based agency said.
The main contributor to the increase of 2.1% was "other accommodation"
(18.1%).
This increase was, however, partially counteracted by a decrease in
hotels (-2.5%), Statistics SA said.
The number of stay units available in March 2010 increased by 2.5% compared with March 2009.
The number of stay unit nights sold in March 2010 decreased by 4.8% compared with March 2009, the agency said.
