Cape Town - Employment Equity Commission chairperson Jimmy Manyi on Wednesday was "red carded" ten times for his "racist" behaviour and statements he made in the last four months.
Trade union Solidarity said in a statement on Wednesday Manyi was red carded for "racial" statements and practices that "undermine the integrity of the EE Commission".
"The red cards were handed out on the basis of the Employment Equity Act, which stipulates that the chairperson of the Employment Equity Commission must be impartial, may not indulge in activities that undermine the integrity of the Commission and that such a chairperson cannot have any conflict of interest, said Solidarity deputy general secretary Dr Dirk Hermann."
Manyi, who only heard about the red cards when Fin24 contacted him, said Hermann was "desperate".
"(Hermann) is just too desperate to sell his book," he said, referring to Hermann's new book about affirmative action - "The Naked Emperor - Why affirmative action has failed".
He said when he read Solidarity's statement "he laughed" and suggested that Hermann go to the Black Management Forum conference in October.
Manyi was red carded for allegedly saying that South African workers will make Zimbabwe look like a Sunday school picnic if they marginalised any further.
He allegedly also called black empowerment partners "house niggers" who cover up the abuses of their white partners and said the skills shortage was an urban legend.
Manyi also drew criticism for his controversial comment that white women benefited enough from AA.
The union said that the statements show that Manyi "can hardly be regarded as a champion of non-racialism".
Solidarity took the statements from several local online and print publications.
