Johannesburg - The ratings agencies will be watching Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan's budget speech as a key event of interest.
This is because it is an indication of South Africa's credit worthiness, explained Sanisha Packirisamy, economist at Momentum Investments, in an interview with Fin24.
She said Momentum Investments will also be looking out for signs suggesting the country can maintain its credit record.
"We will be looking for South Africa's commitment to fiscal consolidation, the ability to stick to the expenditure ceiling, if there are any indications of structural reform that comes through to suggest that South Africa is moving to a higher growth path, as well as trying to curb expenditures where possible, cutting out corruption and making savings on fruitless and wasteful expenditure".
