STUDIO: The budget and cash-strapped consumers

Cape Town - Debt is taking a toll on cash-strapped South Africans and many will be looking to Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan's budget speech for some sort of relief.

Chief executive officer of Credit Matters Roger Brown told Fin24 in an interview that debt is affecting people from all walks of life.

"Debt is a huge issue at the moment and certainly something like the budget ... does have an effect on people's lives," he said.

Brown predicts that Pravin will probably deliver his best budget yet on February 26 because of the upcoming elections.
