Pretoria - The government had approved tax incentives worth
R7bn for large manufacturing projects since 2010, Finance Minister Pravin
Gordhan said on Thursday.
"I want to add that the manufacturing competitiveness
enhancement programme was initiated in June this year and 144 applications have
been received with a value of R1.8bn," Gordhan said.
This is part of the R25bn economic support package announced in last year’s medium-term budget policy statement, which also includes allocations to strengthen training in agriculture, support for minerals beneficiation technology and a Northern Cape semi-precious gemstone project.
