Robert “Rich Dad” Kiyosaki on two Grand Experiments – by God and Mankind

By Alec Hogg

Robert Kiyosaki, whose Rich Dad Poor Dad has now sold an astonishing 50m copies, was in Johannesburg last week. Part of the reason was to promote his 19th book, Second Chance. While some criticised Rich Dad as “lightweight”, this one has depth to burn, with the multi-millionaire pal of US Presidential Candidate Donald Trump propagating some profound thoughts. Including sharing the deeply personal reasons behind his literal leap of faith that sparked the original best-seller.

Second Chance is sure to resuscitate interest in Kiyosaki’s mentor, Dr R Buckminster Fuller. One of the great intellects of the 20th century, Fuller believed mankind is a Grand Experiment by God, or the “Great Spirit” as he preferred to call him. Eventually, Fuller believed, humans will realise they need to change direction, to co-operate rather than compete.

This is a deeply spiritual which raises difficult questions and provides some uncomfortable answers. As with most “out there” philosophies, it’s hard swallow the entire world according to Kiyosaki. But he does deliver some useful pointers about how we got here and what might happen next. Including a strong conviction of a stock market crash next year.
